As a member of Kappa Delta Pi, I welcome them aboard.
At a ceremony on April 30th, the Rutland Regional Medical Center recognized the following students for their volunteer service during the 2007/2008 school year:
- Molly Noble received a pin for 600 hours of service.
- Ryan Gilbert received a pin for 300 hours of service.
Sarah Daley, Heather Foley and Kelsie Ward contributed hours during this school year but have not reached a pin milestone. Further examples of the tremendous work many of our students accomplish outside of school.
The UVM Fifty-First Annual High School Prize Examination in Mathematics has concluded with the results of this difficult competition announced. FHU is proud to report that sophomore Alyssa Dempsey submitted the best paper from FHU and placed in the top ten percent of the 1,864 students who took the competitive exam. Alyssa, one of the younger entrants, is also an accomplished athlete.
The Boy’s Tennis Club is up and running and swinging away with a competition last week at the Long Trail School. Boys are still welcome to join the team. I would also like to thank Ms. Ashleigh Sanborn for being willing (and able) to take on the coaching responsibilities.
Freshman FACT students did a great job greening up the school property last week. It’s just one way they try and give back to their community. Among other things, students planted flowers in Peter Aiken’s garden and in the courtyard around Mr. Scott’s tree. The students also used this time as a chance to learn about geo-caching!
