Our talented music students have been in the forefront this past week.
On Friday, February 5th, the Green Mountain Music Festival was held. The following students participated: Cassie Papandrea, Shania Brown, Abigail Rampone, and Dieter Ekstrom. On March 12th Cassie and Gwen Roberts will be participating in another district music festival.
The Vermont All State Music Festival will be held in Rutland this year, and the following students have been selected to participate: Abby Rampone, Cassie Papandrea and Sam Hoenes. Abby has also been selected to participate in the New England music festival. Congratulations on a terrific performance and good luck in your upcoming events.
Aaron Cassidy, a FHU freshman, recently performed a drum solo in the Northeast Regionals. As a result of his performance, he was selected to compete in the New York State Fine Arts Festival to be held in Syracuse on April 3rd. Out of two years competing, Aaron has been selected both years as a finalist. If Aaron scores high enough, he will continue on to the National festival, to be held in Detroit in August. Good luck Aaron – keep the beat going.
We are very pleased to be offering some more great technology integration training, during the month of March. We will have three sessions of “Digital Story telling in Science” training. The sessions will be done by Clarena Renfrow, who is the Integration Coach at Fair Haven Union High School. She will be working with Photo Story and Microsoft Movie Maker. If you plan to participate and have access to a digital camera, please bring them. We will have a few to use at the trainings. If you can, take some digital pictures before the event in your classroom and bring them with you to work on. Don’t forget your camera cables for the computers, as well! This is not a mandatory training. It should be a lot of fun. The dates are: Fair Haven Union High School March 4th, 2010, 3:30 till 5:30 p.m.; Dorset Elementary School – March 11th, 2010, 3:30 till 5:30 p.m.; and MSJ – March 18th, 2010, 3:30 till 5:30 p.m.
I hope everyone has a great week and vacation break.
Brett C. Blanchard,
Fair Haven Union High School Principal
