The Hannaford Career Center in Middlebury recently announced that FHU senior Jake Ambrozaitis was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. Congratulations, Jake, for your hard work in achieving this honor.
On May 19, 2010, FHUHS students participated in a luncheon celebration at Merchants Bank, Fair Haven, VT. The manager (Mrs. Miller) and many of the employees of the bank provided a six-day seminar for the students in Mrs. Ransom’s Career Seminar Class. These seniors were able to take place in course work that included all basic banking functions, financial organization and borrowing basics. As part of a community based project, we are proud to work with Merchants bank and the students were happy to make that personal connection that will last for years to come. Some of the student comments were: “The employees were very polite, willing to help us learn more about the banking process.”-Sam Mulholland “I learned how you can put money in a CD.”-Vanessa Rheaume “If you have no credit, you need a co-signer, who has good credit.”- Dave Ball “I know understand why it is so important to keep track of your money and manage a checkbook.”-Katy Corcoran
As a member of this year’s All State Jazz Ensemble, Cassie Papandrea will be participating in the Discover Jazz Festival in Burlington on Friday, June 4th. She will be performing in the Marketplace in the afternoon, be part of the workshop with one of the guest musicians, and be performing that evening as an opening act for Arturo Sandoval on the Flynn Main stage at 8pm.
Student Council and class officer elections are being held this week. We will report the results next week. Good luck candidates.
FHU has recently acquired some equipment from Vermont Electric Power Company (VELCO), who graciously donated it to us. Thank you for your continued support of our school.
The Science NECAP tests were completed this past week. A big thank you to the faculty and staff, particularly Shaun Ketcham, Mike Schwaner, Ben Worthing, Tom Smith and Nate Morris (our Science department), for the extra work and preparation for this very important test.
Have a great week!
