2006-2007 Extracurricular Activity Dates for Eligibility
Dear Parents, Guardians, Coaches and Students:
Below are the dates for the 2006-2076 school year to determine if a student is eligible to participate in extracurricular activities based on their class grades/overall grade average. As stated in the FHUHS Parent and Student Handbook and according to FHUHS policy:
If a student fails more than one course in any marking period, they will be ineligible to participate in any extracurricular activities during the following marking period. If one course is failed and the total marking period average is less than 70, the student will also be ineligible to participate in any extracurricular activities during the following marking period.
The eligibility will commence on the day report cards are issued, with the exception of the final marking period, which will begin on the day school starts in the fall. Students must turn in all uniforms at that time pending reestablishment of eligibility.
The day ineligibility will commence is on the day the school has distributed report cards — which means the day report cards are either mailed home to the parents/students?Äô residence or on the day the school has issued the report cards to the student body, whichever comes first.
Please note that eligibility for the fall sports and activities is based on the last marking period of the previous year. Therefore, eligibility will be based on grade averages received for the fourth marking period.
Ineligible students may request a review of their eligibility status at the midpoint of the marking period (See Below). Students who are passing all subjects at that time will be eligible for full participation in activities once eligibility has been verified.
Ineligible students may request a review of their eligibility status ten calendar days before the midpoint of the marking period date, or at the end of the marking period date, for the purpose of conditioning and practice. If the student is passing all subjects at that time, they are eligible to practice only. Students may not travel with the team, dress (wear any part of the uniform at any time), sit with or assist the team during the above ten-day calendar period. At the midpoint and end of each marking period date, the students again must verify that they are passing all subjects before full participation.
All eligible athletes must meet the 10-day practice requirement established by the Vermont Principals?Äô Association. FHUHS requires that the 10 days of practice occur immediately before full participation in the sport.
The option of replacing a final marking period grade with a passing grade from an equivalent summer course may result in a change in eligibility.
If you have an incomplete grade on your report card, this will be considered a failing grade toward eligibility unless:
- It is for a grade not yet received from Stafford Technical Center.
- It is due to prolonged illness and has been cleared by administration.
