EXPENSES

There are a few initial purchases required for participation in FHUHS Band. Students unable to fund these purchases should contact Mr. Lenox.

PAYMENTS

May either be turned in to Mr. Lenox on the scheduled day or they may be mailed ahead of time to:

I prefer that checks are mailed rather than hand-delivered. This will save on rehearsal time and cut down on lost checks and forms.

All checks should be made out to FHUHS Band, except when the activity is Band Booster related such as band trip payments or tickets for the pops concert. Band Booster activities should be made out to FHUHS Band Boosters.

Uniforms:

Marching Uniforms:

The school provides the entire marching uniform except for the shoes. Students must have a pair of solid white shoes by the end of October. You may purchase any white sneaker, or place an order through the school. If you buy your own shoes they must be completely white. Students will not be allowed to march in shoes that have any color on them.

I will be placing an order for Dinkle brand marching shoes September 28. Students desiring to purchase the shoes should send $25 to me with the order form found at the end of the handbook. Checks should be made out to FHUHS Band.

New Uniforms

We are hoping to replace our marching uniforms. They are old and made out of wool. We have had some students pass out from the heat during summer parades. Also, it is expensive to clean the wool. The new uniforms will use white shoes. We have not yet figured out how we will pay for the new uniforms. Please pay attention to more information on getting the New Uniforms, and be as supportive as you can in this issue.

Parent and Student Uniform Managers

Maintaining and keeping the uniforms organized is a lot of work and one of the things that keeps me from working on music. I am looking for one parent to help in organizing and assigning the uniforms and a student or two to aid and keep the locker organized. Please let me know if you feel this job may suit you.

Concert Uniforms:

The concert uniform is a tuxedo top and bow tie purchased from McNeil and Reedy in Rutland for $20, and any pair of black dress bottoms & black dress shoes. Women may ware either black dress pants or a black skirt that goes at least below the knees. Students will need the full uniform by December.

I will be placing an order to McNeil and Reedy for the concert shirts and bow ties September 28. Students desiring to purchase the shirts and bow ties through the school should send $20 to me with the order form found at the end of the handbook. Checks should be made out to FHUHS Band. The shirts may be purchased independently from McNeil and Reedy, just let them know that you are with the FHUHS Band and they will take care of you.

The Band Trip:

Each April break the band goes on an optional three day band trip which is both a lot of fun and musically & culturally enriching. The exact cost of the trip cannot be nailed down by the beginning of the year but I can promise to work hard to keep costs at $350 or less. More information on trip related information can be found under the Concerts/Trips section of the hand book.

I will be collecting $50 payments for the trip every first monday of the month starting in October. I am hoping that 7 payments of $50 will make it easier then three payments of $120.

Miscellaneous Musical Supplies:

Students will have different finical needs based on their instrument. Percussionists are responsible for snare drum sticks. Each drummer should come to class with their own pair. If their sticks are lost or are broken it is their responsibility to replace the sticks. The school will provide all other forms of sticks. Reeds and valve oil may be purchased from Mr. Lenox?Äôs storage for one dollar. Students will be allowed to run up a tab, but their tab may not exceed $10. Supplies may also be purchased through Ellis music. An Ellis Music representative will visit the school once a week. Be Music in Rutland is another source for musical supplies.
