MUSICAL OPPORTUNITIES OTHER THAN CONCERT BAND

JAZZ ENSEMBLE

The Jazz Ensemble is a large jazz ensemble that meets every Monday night and plays through big band charts from the varied styles of Jazz: Swing, Be-Bop, Standards, Rock, Funk, and Latin. The Jazz Band is composed of the typical Big Band instrumentation: Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombones, Piano, Guitar, Bass, and Percussion. Students who want to play jazz but play other instruments should talk to Mr. Lenox about picking up a secondary instrument.

FHUHS COMMUNITY PEP BAND

EXTRACURRICULAR
All Home Football Games
The pep band is a fun rowdy group that plays at all Home FHUHS Football games. It is open to any musician interested, students and adults. The music is simple and fun. The group?Äôs main purpose is to have a good time at the football games and to let that fun spread to the stands and encourage the home team. We will meet an hour prior to the home game in the FHUHS band room to rehearse and then move our equipment to the stands. Students interested in playing in groups such as Flute Choirs, Sax Quartets, Wind Ensembles, Percussion Ensembles, etc. are encouraged to express this interest to Mr. Lenox and their fellow musicians. If there is enough interest Mr. Lenox will gladly help the group acquire music and run rehearsals.

The Lakes Region Youth Orchestra

Not School Related
I strongly encourage anyone who can?Äôt get enough of band or wants more of a challenge to join the Lakes Region Youth Orchestra. The group rehearses on Friday afternoon at Castleton College, and is led by some of the finest music educators in the area. They perform an exciting repertoire and I have yet to meet a student who did not really enjoy playing in the Orchestra. If you want to join I will gladly help arrange it for you or just speak to one of the several FHUHS band members who belong to the Lakes Region Youth Orchestra.
