Governor’s Institute Winter Weekend: The Governor’s Institutes of Vermont (www.giv.org) will hold their popular Winter Weekend February 10-12^th, 2012. Designed for 9^th-12^th graders, the Winter Weekend is an overnight learning experience on the Goddard College campus. This year students can choose between Engineering, Arts or Current Issues, or try out a brand new Information Technology track, “Augmented Reality: The Merger of Art and Technology” that will have students creating 3-D worlds online. If you are interested please come to guidance +/or apply online. The application deadline is January 20, 2012.

Introduction to College Studies (ICS) through CCV.

This is a free class that helps you decide whether college fits into your future and prepares you for the transition from high school to college. Once you complete the course, you can apply for a voucher for a free college course.

Mondays from 6:00-8:00pm, Jan. 30 – Apr. 23 (at CCV-Rutland)

Tuesdays from 3:30-5:30pm, Jan. 31 – Apr. 24 (at CCV-Rutland)

Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00pm, Feb. 1 – Apr. 25 (at Castleton State College)

Things to do to prepare for Senior Year:

Make sure your senior year schedule is set and fulfills graduation requirements.

Attending college? Go to Open Houses and campus tours.
Heading to work? – Begin networking within the field you wish to gain employment to establish future job opportunities.

Look for ways to build your academic and leadership skills over the summer by volunteering at a local charity or civic organization
