Conjugation of regular -ar verbs (“first conjugation”) in the present indicative

-ar verbs are the most common of all Spanish verbs, and new verbs which enter the language are most likely to become -ar verbs as well. Here are the regular endings of the present (tense) indicative (mode):

 SingularPlural
First Person-o-amos
Second Person-as-áis
Third Person-a-an

Thus:

 SingularPlural
First Personhablohablamos
Second Personhablashabláis
Third Personhablahablan

Be Careful! It is the most natural thing in the world to vocally stress the endings above as you pronounce a new verb to help you remember the endings and to show your instructor that you know what they are. Try hard to avoid this tendency and to keep the stress in the correct location!
