Conjugation of regular -ir verbs (third conjugation) in the present indicative

-ir verbs are the least common of all Spanish verbs and the most likely to show irregularies. Here are the regular endings for regular -ir verbs in the present (tense) indicative (mode/mood):

  Singular Plural
First Person -o -imos
Second Person -es -ís
Third Person -e -en

Thus (vivir):

  Singular Plural
First Person vivo vivimos
Second Person vives vivís
Third Person vive viven

Be Careful! It is the most natural thing in the world to vocally stress the endings above as you pronounce a new verb to help you remember the endings and to show your instructor that you know what they are. Try hard to avoid this tendency and to keep the stress in the correct location!
