Conjugation of regular -er & -ir verbs in the preterite indicative

Regular -er and -ir verbs have identical suffixes in the preterite indicative. Here are the regular endings:

 SingularPlural
First Person-imos
Second Person-iste-isteis
Third Person-ió-ieron

Thus:

 SingularPlural
First Personcomí – vivícomimos – vivimos
Second Personcomiste – vivistecomisteis – vivisteis
Third Personcomío – viviócomieron – vivieron

It is interesting to note that the preterite indicative is the only tense/mode in which the form does not end in an s. In all of the other tenses in Spanish, the form always end in an s.
