Useful Network Tools

These tools can be useful for working with Internet-based foreign language materials, broadcasts, etc. I have no affiliation with these software houses so use at your own risk. I have found them personally useful.

Audio Tools

  • Windows Media Recorder For Windows computers, this application allows you to capture/record any Windows media stream (such as Radio Exterior de España) into an MP3 file on your computer. Once recorded, you can listen to the broadcast at any time. Useful for listening to news broadcasts over and over…
  • Audio Hijack Pro For MacOSX computers. Allows MacOS X users to capture and record any streaming internet audio content (or the audio of virtually any application on the Mac).

Writing Tools

  • Citation Machine This site helps you build properly formatted bibliographies in the MLA (Modern Language Association) style used by the humanities and social sciences. If you are writing a research paper for Spanish, the MLA format is a requirement!
